We are seeking a GIS Analyst with expertise in GIS, programming, and remote sensing to conduct advanced spatial analyses and deliver high-quality insights that support research and inform policy.

Responsibilities

Conduct in-depth spatial analyses to support project objectives and address complex research questions.
Manage and process large, complex datasets using GIS software and platforms (e.g. Google Earth Engine, ArcGIS Pro, and QGIS).
Design, implement, and refine research methodologies for GIS projects to ensure scientific rigour and reproducibility.
Develop visually compelling maps, dashboards, and data visualisations for reports, presentations, and interactive applications.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of researchers and policy experts to integrate geospatial insights into broader research initiatives.
Contribute to and co-author research reports, policy briefs, and peer-reviewed publications.
Maintain precise documentation of data sources, methodologies, and analytical workflows.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Data Science, or a related field with at least 2 years of relevant professional experience, OR a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience.
Demonstrated experience in conducting spatial analyses and managing GIS projects from conception through completion.

Skill Set

Strong expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) concepts and tools.
Proficiency in GIS software, including professional experience with Google Earth Engine (GEE) and advanced proficiency with ArcGIS Pro and/or QGIS.
Proficiency in statistical analysis and programming tools such as Python (e.g. Pandas, GeoPandas, and Rasterio) and/or R for data manipulation, analysis, and automation.
Proficiency in Geoserver.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
Exceptional writing skills for producing clear, compelling, and accurate research reports.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Working knowledge of Geo-AI and machine learning techniques is highly desirable.
