Analyst

We are looking for an Analyst to work on network modelling and studies that support transmission planning and renewable energy integration in India’s evolving power system. The role involves using advanced tools such as PSSE and DIgSILENT PowerFactory to perform load flow and grid stability studies under various scenarios, contributing to the development of a reliable and future-ready transmission network.


Responsibilities


  • Develop and validate PSSE and DIgSILENT PowerFactory models for existing and planned transmission systems.
  • Identify least-cost network strengthening and expansion measures to ensure reliable power system integration.
  • Support grid stability and flexibility assessments, considering emerging technologies such as electric vehicles (EVs), green hydrogen, and rooftop solar photovoltaics.

Communications Officer – Design (2D Animator)

We are seeking a creative and confident 2D animator to join our Communication and Policy Engagement (CPE) team. This full-time role is focused on translating research, policy insights, and sectoral work into clear, engaging 2D animated visual stories for diverse audiences. The role demands strong fundamentals of animation, discipline in following research-based content, and the ability to simplify complex ideas without distorting facts.


Responsibilities


  • Conceptualise, storyboard, and produce high-quality 2D animated videos for social media, campaigns, reports, and documentaries.
  • Create explainer animations, infographics, and motion graphics aligned with research content and policy narratives.
  • Translate complex research and data into clear, visually engaging animated stories.
  • Develop short-format animated content optimised for social and digital platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with researchers, writers, and communication specialists to ensure accuracy and clarity in visual storytelling.
  • Manage the animation workflow from storyboarding to final animation delivery.
  • Adapt long-form content (reports, webinars, and presentations) into short, animation-led outputs.
  • Maintain visual consistency with CSTEP’s brand guidelines across all animated content.
  • Experiment with AI-assisted animation and motion design tools to improve efficiency and storytelling quality.

Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Animation, Design, Media Studies, Communication, Fine Arts, or a related field.



Skill Set


  • Strong fundamentals in 2D animation principles (timing, easing, motion flow, and visual hierarchy).
  • Proficiency in Adobe After Effects (mandatory).
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for asset creation and preparation.
  • Experience in motion graphics, animated infographics, and explainer-style animations.
  • Good sense of composition, colour, pacing, and visual storytelling.
  • Ability to storyboard and visualise scripts or research inputs effectively.

The candidate must be well versed in the technical and policy aspects of energy storage and its application in the energy and power sector. She/he should meet the requirements related to deliverables and project schedule, and should coordinate and communicate effectively with internal and external teams to meet the project objectives.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct research related to the field of energy storage
  • Undertake economic analysis in the areas of energy and power sector such as energy storage, renewable energy, electric mobility, electricity transmission and distribution, to support policy decisions
  • Conduct research related to least cost resource planning for different states
  • Conduct research related to load flow, short-circuit, reliability, and contingency analysis for both transmission and distribution
  • Develop financial/ econometric models pertaining to energy and power sector 
  • Compile energy market data, analyse market trends, including demand, supply and price projections
  • Establish communication and coordinate for data/analysis with relevant stakeholders(government, industry, and academia) for energy and power sector
  • Document and publish the research findings in detailed reports, journals and conferences, op-eds, newsletters



Qualifications


MTech in energy/power or its equivalent in a related field.



Skill Set


  • Ability to produce high-quality research reports, white papers, journals, policy briefs, etc.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to collect necessary data and discuss study findings.
  • Willingness to undertake technical and policy research in the energy domain.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Competence in using power system planning tools, as well as in using software and statistical tools (Python, R, SAS, tableau, SPSS, etc.) to develop economic models and derive results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and good interpersonal skills.

We are seeking a Senior Communication Officer to manage day-to-day communication efforts and translate complex research from the Energy and Power sector at CSTEP into clear, engaging, and impactful narratives. The role requires strong storytelling skills, a solid understanding of the policy ecosystem and think tank environment, and the ability to design and execute content and engagement strategies. Acting as a liaison between research and outreach teams (Communication and Policy Engagement), the candidate will ensure effective knowledge dissemination across platforms while contributing to institutional outputs and stakeholder engagement initiatives and events.


Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and execute creative engagement strategies aligned with the organisation’s and sector’s goals.
  • Translate and repurpose technical research into audience-specific content (blogs, social media, website copy, and outreach materials).
  • Build, maintain, and actively manage a stakeholder database, and design targeted communication initiatives to drive effective engagement.
  • Track policy developments, events, and emerging ecosystem conversations, and leverage these to inform communication and support research visibility.
  • Monitor and analyse digital performance metrics using insights to refine and strengthen communication strategies.

Qualifications

We are seeking a technically skilled Analyst to join our Energy Policy and Regulations team. The role focuses on distribution-system planning and operations, particularly load-flow analysis and involves assessing the impact of emerging technologies at the sub-distribution level. The Analyst will develop data-driven insights to support reliable DISCOM operations while contributing to policy-relevant research on India’s energy transition. The position also requires a strong understanding of the Indian power sector, along with the ability to manage project deliverables and communicate findings effectively with internal and external stakeholders.


Responsibilities


  • Lead research on distribution network load flows to assess impacts of DRE integration, EV uptake, rooftop solar, and optimal sizing/siting of BESS at feeder and DT levels.
  • Track and analyse policies, regulations, and emerging technologies in the distribution sector to generate data-driven insights for decision-making.
  • Evaluate state-level power system characteristics, including load curves and planning criteria, to inform infrastructure upgrade needs.
  • Collaborate with state and national stakeholders to develop and advance actionable recommendations.
  • Produce policy briefs, technical reports, presentations, and journal articles to communicate findings.
  • Travel across India, as required, to support stakeholder engagement and project execution.


Qualifications


Bachelor’s or Master's degree in a relevant field, such as Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Energy and Power Systems.
