Intern(Video Editing)

The Intern (Video Editing) will be a part of the Communication and Policy Engagement (CPE) team for 6 months and will assist in developing video content that supports CSTEP’s research and outreach initiatives. The intern will contribute to editing videos for documentaries, social media, and campaigns and will also support basic filming and photography assignments. The ideal candidate should possess a flair for visual storytelling, have a working knowledge of video editing tools, and be willing to learn through field-based projects. The role may also include travel for video documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Edit short films, documentaries, and social media reels.
  • Assist in creating video content for campaigns, reports, and event highlights.
  • Support storyboarding and motion design tasks using Adobe After Effects.
  • Assist with basic videography and photography when needed.
  • Use visual storytelling techniques to enhance research narratives.
  • Help organise and maintain video footage and file systems.
  • Explore the use of AI-based tools (e.g., Runway) for video enhancements (basic level).
  • Collaborate with researchers to deliver high-quality visual content.
  • Learn and apply cinematic techniques in framing, lighting, and editing.
  • Maintain consistency in visual style, in alignment with CSTEP’s branding.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (completed or ongoing) in media studies, communication, film, animation, or a related field.

Skill set

  • Basic experience in video editing and visual storytelling through academic or personal projects.
  • Experience in videography or photography would be a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
  • Basic understanding of Adobe Animate or frame-by-frame animation.
  • Familiarity with handling cameras for video or photo shoots.
  • Good sense of visual composition, rhythm, and storytelling.
  • Interest in cinematic techniques and on-field learning.
  • Some awareness of AI-supported editing tools.
  • Ability to manage timelines and work collaboratively in a team environment.

Intern

We are seeking highly motivated interns to support ground surveys in the industrial areas of Bengaluru. The role involves conducting ground-level surveys, engaging with stakeholders, and systematically recording survey results into structured MS Excel databases. This role offers valuable hands-on experience in field data collection, industry-focused surveys, and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Visit assigned industrial areas to assist in ground-level surveys.
  • Interact with industry representatives and workers to collect relevant information.
  • Accurately record survey data in structured MS Excel templates.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and completeness.
  • Transcribe the data into usable formats for reports.
  • Support the project team with day-to-day survey operations and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a master’s degree or a recent bachelor’s degree in any discipline 
  • Basic knowledge of MS Excel (data entry, formatting, and simple functions)

Skill Set

  • Proficiency in spoken Kannada (mandatory)

Intern (Ecological Survey)

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Intern to support ecological surveys as part of an ongoing project on Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) in Bengaluru. This internship provides hands-on experience in biodiversity surveys, ecological sampling, and field data management across a range of diverse urban and peri-urban habitats. The internship offers an opportunity to contribute to an ongoing project on urban ecosystems and climate resilience. Interns will also receive guidance and mentorship from a multidisciplinary research team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting biodiversity field surveys across selected parks, lakes, wetlands, and urban forests in Bengaluru.
  • Support the sampling of indicator taxa (e.g. birds, insects, amphibians, reptiles, and plants) using standardised ecological methods.
  • Record and manage field data using datasheets and mobile applications (e.g. Survey123 and iNaturalist).
  • Help with species identification using field guides and reference materials.
  • Contribute to data entry, cleaning, and metadata preparation using R, Excel, and GIS tools.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a Master’s programme in Ecology, Environmental Science, Zoology, Botany, Geography, Geoinformatics, or a related field.

Skill Set

  • Familiarity with GPS devices, field guides, and mobile applications for ecological surveys.
  • Basic knowledge of GIS software (QGIS/ArcGIS).
  • Proficiency in data handling and analysis using Excel or R.
  • Demonstrated interest in biodiversity monitoring and conservation ecology.
  • Prior fieldwork experience in bird, insect, or vegetation surveys (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Must be based in Bengaluru.

Intern (Biomanufacturing and Bioeconomy)
