Coordinator -Climate Resilient Cell

The Climate Resilient Cell Coordinator will be the primary point of contact and will work closely with project teams, stakeholders, line departments, farmer producer organisations (FPOs), and community members. The incumbent will coordinate with the Climate Support Cell (CSC), Government of Odisha, and ensure that project activities and outputs are aligned with the state’s overall goals and objectives. 


Responsibilities


  • Lead the team at Odisha in developing and implementing climate-resilient agriculture strategies and action plans aligned with state polices. 
  • Liaison with CSC, government agencies, FPOs, SHGs, research institutions, and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate knowledge sharing and effective implementation of climate-smart practices.
  • Assist in establishing/strengthening effective coordination mechanisms among the stakeholders and other line departments to institutionalise and promote climate-smart agriculture (CSA) in the state.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to nodal department/stakeholders to set up/review and monitor institutional mechanisms and processes to adopt or advance CSA in the state. 
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and monitoring, ensuring the timely delivery of project objectives and outcomes.
  • Compile and disseminate relevant information, case studies, and best practices related to CSA, facilitating knowledge sharing and learning among stakeholders.
  • Prepare timely and accurate progress reports, project updates, and technical briefs, and ensure effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.



Qualifications


  • An advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in agriculture/environment studies/economics/public policy or a related field.
  • At least 15 years of work experience at the national/state level in development projects (preferably on sustainable agriculture and climate resilience), including implementation and monitoring/evaluation of such projects.



Skill Set

We are seeking a dynamic, skilled, and experienced professional for the position of Analyst/Senior Analyst to join the Energy and Power team at CSTEP and support ongoing work on Just Transition. The Analyst will play a vital role in analysing and assessing the regulatory landscape and policy developments impacting Just Transition in India, particularly in the context of renewable energy development. The role will also involve contributing to the formulation of strategies and recommendations to help achieve India’s Just Transition goals while implementing energy transition policies.

The shortlisted candidate will lead analytical and policy-oriented research on energy transition, with a strong focus on justice and equity. This position requires strong technical, analytical, and policy skills, along with the ability to engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.


Responsibilities


  • Research and Analysis
  • Lead research on Just Transition pathways for renewable energy (RE) development across Indian states, with emphasis on social, economic, and environmental impacts on affected communities.
  • Assess technical, economic, and policy levers to drive fair and inclusive energy transitions, including workforce reskilling, community benefit-sharing, land-use planning, and equitable access to clean energy.
  • Evaluate state-level RE characteristics, including resource potential, local economic dependencies, and social vulnerability indicators, to inform and contextualise transition strategies.

  • Assist in conducting biodiversity field surveys across selected parks, lakes, wetlands, and urban forests in Bengaluru.

Skill Set


  • Experience (including internships, research projects, or academic work) in climate risk analysis, vulnerability assessment, environmental science, or related fields, with proven ability to conduct systematic literature reviews and translate research into practical climate solutions.
  • Exposure to field research, government engagement, or climate and sustainability projects will be an advantage.
  • Strong data management and analysis skills (MS Office Suite, Excel, and R) for spatial analysis, vulnerability and risk data visualisation, and synthesis of complex datasets.
  • Demonstrated research and writing capabilities, including systematic literature reviews, technical report preparation, and clear communication of findings to diverse audiences.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail in reviewing climate risk and vulnerability assessments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in dynamic research settings.
