We are looking for a Senior Associate to support the development of a cleaner, smarter, and more resilient power system. We are seeking a technically skilled Analyst to join our Energy Policy and Regulations team. The role focuses on distribution-system planning and operations, particularly load-flow analysis and involves assessing the impact of emerging technologies at the sub-distribution level. The Analyst will develop data-driven insights to support reliable DISCOM operations while contributing to policy-relevant research on India’s energy transition. The position also requires a strong understanding of the Indian power sector, along with the ability to manage project deliverables and communicate findings effectively with internal and external stakeholders.


Responsibilities


  • Lead research on distribution network load flows to assess impacts of DRE integration, EV uptake, rooftop solar, and optimal sizing/siting of BESS at feeder and DT levels.
  • Track and analyse policies, regulations, and emerging technologies in the distribution sector to generate data-driven insights for decision-making.
  • Evaluate state-level power system characteristics, including load curves and planning criteria, to inform infrastructure upgrade needs.
  • Collaborate with state and national stakeholders to develop and advance actionable recommendations.
  • Produce policy briefs, technical reports, presentations, and journal articles to communicate findings.
  • Travel across India, as required, to support stakeholder engagement and project execution.


Qualifications

We are seeking a Senior Associate with expertise in technical, analytical, and project implementation aspects of hard-to-abate industrial sectors and/or MSMEs, with a focus on reducing GHG and energy intensity. The role includes advancing circular economy solutions, clean fuel adoption, and the transition to renewable or electric-based thermal systems, along with performance analysis and techno-economic assessment of low-carbon pathways. The ideal candidate will have experience in modelling, research, and project execution, and will contribute to research, policy inputs, and stakeholder engagement while independently managing assignments, mentoring junior team members, and delivering high-quality outputs aligned with organisational goals.


Responsibilities


  • Lead and contribute to research on low-carbon and clean technology pathways for decarbonising energy-intensive and MSME-based industries in India.
  • Conduct techno-economic and performance assessments of clean technology solutions for industrial processes in hard-to-abate sectors, including those under the Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS).
  • Develop concept notes and methodologies for offset mechanisms within the Indian and global carbon markets, including innovative ideas under IDC.   
  • Conduct detailed IN&OUT mapping of Industrial sectors (prepare the profile for product-mix, energy & emission, fuel mix, technology, stakeholders, contribution to country’s economy, including the country’s NDC commitment if any, Decarbonisation roadmap, etc.) for ODA1 countries in Asia and Africa continents, through source-driven desk-based research.
  • Lead and contribute to advanced research on near-, mid-, and long-term decarbonisation measures, such as CCUS/CCS, hydrogen, electrification, circular economy and recycling, and alternative fuels and feedstocks, across industrial sectors, including innovative financial models.
  • Develop research reports, policy briefs, journal papers, and technical publications for reputed national and international platforms.

Qualifications

  • Strong academic and research background, with publications in reputed journals or conferences.

We are seeking a technically strong and policy-oriented professional to join the Strategic Initiatives team as a Senior Analyst. The role will focus on advancing research and implementation pathways in carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS); green hydrogen; renewable energy systems; Power-to-X technologies; circular waste management solutions; and other emerging technologies. The candidate will contribute to interdisciplinary projects involving techno-economic assessment, sustainability assessment, systems modelling, policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, and strategy development to support India’s decarbonisation and net-zero transition.


Responsibilities


  • Conduct techno-economic, life cycle, and market assessments for CCUS, green hydrogen, renewable energy integration, and waste-to-energy / value pathways.
  • Assess policy, regulatory, financing, and infrastructure requirements for scaling emerging low-carbon technologies in India.

The candidate should have strong analytical and quantitative skills; an interest in macroeconomics and/or climate change; and basic experience in data analysis, modelling, or programming. The role will involve supporting the development and application of macroeconomic and macrofinancial models to assess the implications of India’s economic and climate transition. The candidate will contribute to quantitative analysis, interpretation of model results, scenario analysis, and ongoing modelling work. This role is particularly suited to someone who can approach unfamiliar problems systematically, ask the right questions, identify what is required, and work towards a solution.


Responsibilities


  • Support the development and application of macroeconomic and macrofinancial models to assess economic, financial, and climate-transition scenarios for India.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis, scenario development, and model-based assessments, and support the interpretation and validation of model results.
  • Undertake research and policy analysis on macroeconomic, financial, and climate-related issues relevant to India’s transition.

We are seeking an Intern to work with geospatial data to support CSTEP’s research on climate, energy, and sustainability issues.


Responsibilities


  • Collect, edit, and manage spatial and tabular data using ArcGIS Pro and/or QGIS.
  • Ability to perform core spatial analysis and geoprocessing tasks (e.g., overlay analysis, spatial queries, and zonal statistics) to support research projects.
  • Conduct rigorous quality assurance and control (QA/QC) for geospatial data and outputs.
  • Develop clear, concise, and publication-quality static maps and figures for reports and briefs.
  • Provide geospatial support to a multidisciplinary team of researchers and analysts.
  • Document data sources, methodologies, and analysis workflows meticulously.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in the geospatial field.


Qualifications


Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in geography, geoinformatics, environmental science, geomatics, or a related field.
