Analyst/Senior Analyst

The candidate must be well versed in the technical and policy aspects of energy storage and its application in the energy and power sector. She/he should meet the requirements related to deliverables and project schedule, and should coordinate and communicate effectively with internal and external teams to meet the project objectives.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct research related to the field of energy storage
  • Undertake economic analysis in the areas of energy and power sector such as energy storage, renewable energy, electric mobility, electricity transmission and distribution, to support policy decisions
  • Conduct research related to least cost resource planning for different states
  • Conduct research related to load flow, short-circuit, reliability, and contingency analysis for both transmission and distribution
  • Develop financial/ econometric models pertaining to energy and power sector 
  • Compile energy market data, analyse market trends, including demand, supply and price projections
  • Establish communication and coordinate for data/analysis with relevant stakeholders(government, industry, and academia) for energy and power sector
  • Document and publish the research findings in detailed reports, journals and conferences, op-eds, newsletters



Qualifications


MTech in energy/power or its equivalent in a related field.



Skill Set


  • Ability to produce high-quality research reports, white papers, journals, policy briefs, etc.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to collect necessary data and discuss study findings.
  • Willingness to undertake technical and policy research in the energy domain.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Competence in using power system planning tools, as well as in using software and statistical tools (Python, R, SAS, tableau, SPSS, etc.) to develop economic models and derive results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a multi-functional team.
  • Expertise in carrying out least-cost resource planning for power sector, power flow 
  • analysis, power electronics, cost-benefit, life-cycle cost, impacts, forecasting, market 
  • penetration, and consequences analyses of energy 
  • Expertise in carrying out load-flow, short-circuit, reliability, and contingency analysis in relevant power system software
  • Prepare medium to long-term energy sector outlook reports for various states 
  • Willingness to undertake technical and policy research in energy domain
  • Experience working with generating companies, distribution utilities, renewable nodal agencies, regulatory commissions, ministries and government bodies

Analyst

We are seeking an Analyst with a strong understanding of both the technical and policy aspects of energy-intensive industrial sectors, such as refining, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, steel, and cement, including MSMEs/SMEs. The candidate should have solid functional knowledge of low-carbon technologies, energy efficiency, and their applications. They will be responsible for supporting project proposals, managing deliverables and timelines, and coordinating effectively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives.

 

Responsibilities


  • Track and analyse developments in industrial decarbonisation (IDC) across state, national, and global contexts.
  • Work at the intersection of clean technologies and implementation strategies, identifying ways to improve decision-making and policy in industrial sectors.
  • Conduct research on IDC-related policies and regulations to generate actionable insights.
  • Develop concept notes, project ideas, and proposals aligned with sector priorities and economic impact.
  • Undertake research, modelling, and analysis to build a strong knowledge base on IDC trends, technologies, and business models.
  • Apply knowledge of low-carbon and net-zero pathways for industry, including policy frameworks, financial modelling, market assessment, energy auditing, and GHG accounting protocols.
  • Engage and coordinate with stakeholders, including industry, associations, government bodies, funding agencies, and research institutions.
  • Document and disseminate findings through reports, journal publications, conferences, op-eds, and newsletters.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in chemical/petrochemical/biochemical/industrial chemistry/materials science & metallurgical engineering, business, or a related field.
  • 0–2 years relevant professional/project/academic experience in industrial process engineering, economic analysis, and low-carbon applications related to industrial sectors.


Skill Set


  • Hands-on experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting for industrial processes.
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance, sustainability practices, and energy efficiency initiatives.
  • Basic understanding of life cycle assessment, energy audits, and environmental impact assessments.
  • Strong fundamentals in mass transfer, heat transfer, reaction engineering, and process design.
  • Exposure to chemical process applications through academic projects, internships, or industry training.
  • Willingness to undertake technical and policy research in energy-intensive industrial sectors.
  • Proficiency in analytical tools such as MS Excel and Tableau; working knowledge of Python, R, or SAS is an advantage.
  • Ability to assess industrial operations and develop innovative, practical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and build stakeholder buy-in.
  • Willingness to travel for data collection and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to make timely and effective decisions.
