Analyst

We are looking for an Analyst with a keen interest in understanding India’s economic and climate future, and an aptitude for quantitative modelling and problem-solving. The candidate should have strong analytical and quantitative skills; an interest in macroeconomics and/or climate change; and basic experience in data analysis, modelling, or programming. The role will involve supporting the development and application of macroeconomic and macrofinancial models to assess the implications of India’s economic and climate transition. The candidate will contribute to quantitative analysis, interpretation of model results, scenario analysis, and ongoing modelling work. This role is particularly suited to someone who can approach unfamiliar problems systematically, ask the right questions, identify what is required, and work towards a solution.


Responsibilities


  • Support the development and application of macroeconomic and macrofinancial models to assess economic, financial, and climate-transition scenarios for India.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis, scenario development, and model-based assessments, and support the interpretation and validation of model results.
  • Undertake research and policy analysis on macroeconomic, financial, and climate-related issues relevant to India’s transition.
  • Collect, clean, analyse, and organise economic, financial, energy, and climate-related data, and support the development of model inputs, databases, and analytical tools.
  • Work closely with senior researchers and engage with external stakeholders, particularly government bodies, financial institutions, and subject-matter experts, to understand requirements and incorporate feedback.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports, presentations, technical notes, policy briefs, and other project outputs.
  • Support proposal development, including background research, technical inputs, and the preparation of concept notes and proposals.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and contribute to knowledge development and internal learning on macroeconomic, financial, and climate modelling.
  • Participate in stakeholder consultations, workshops, expert meetings, and conferences, as required.


Qualifications


  • Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Energy and Climate Change, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • A background or demonstrated interest in macroeconomics, macrofinancial systems, climate change, or economic modelling is desirable.


Skill Set


  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex problems systematically.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new modelling approaches, tools, and concepts independently.
  • Good understanding of economics and/or financial systems, with an interest in their interaction with climate change and the broader economy.
  • Ability to conduct quantitative analysis, modelling, and scenario assessment using appropriate methodologies and tools.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and visualisation is desirable.
  • Strong research skills, including the ability to identify relevant literature and data, synthesise information, and draw meaningful insights.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams and engage constructively with external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, troubleshoot problems, and deliver high-quality outputs within timelines.
  • Willingness to travel, as required, for stakeholder consultations, workshops, conferences, and project activities.
  • Prior exposure to macroeconomic modelling, system dynamics, stock-flow consistent modelling, or climate-economy modelling would be an advantage, but is not essential.

AI Consultant (Strategy & Implementation)

We are looking for an AI Consultant to help CSTEP leverage artificial intelligence to strengthen its research, innovation, and impact across clean energy transition, clean air, and climate action and resilience. The role will work closely with leadership and research teams to identify opportunities for AI-enabled capabilities, develop strategies for applying AI to CSTEP’s work, and explore new ways of engaging with stakeholders. The Consultant will also help prioritise and guide the implementation of AI initiatives, including adoption, integration, and change management, to deliver measurable value and strengthen CSTEP’s position at the intersection of research, technology, and public policy.


Responsibilities


  • Build leadership awareness of how artificial intelligence can create new capabilities and optimise existing ones across the organisation.
  • Help teams identify new possibilities for engagement models, value propositions, and ways of working enabled by AI.
  • Work with each sector and group to develop AI transformation strategies aligned with their research and organisational priorities.
  • Identify and develop AI use cases with the potential to deliver measurable value and impact.
  • Develop an implementation roadmap and guide the execution of plans for AI development, integration, adoption, and change management. 


Qualifications


Master's degree with a good track record (10+ years) in transformation and innovation with digital technologies, particularly artificial intelligence

  • Strong data and AI literacy, with an understanding of their foundational role in transformation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Awareness of clean energy, air quality, and climate technology domains, and AI-enabled use cases in these areas.
  • Understanding of Responsible AI principles and their application to deliver tangible value and benefits.
