

This project explores how co-locating energy storage with renewable energy plants can enhance India’s power system resilience, reliability, and cost efficiency during its clean energy transition. It assesses the energy storage requirements for co-located solar and wind projects, quantifies their costs and benefits, and identifies the value propositions of integrating storage with generation assets.
Through detailed techno-economic modelling, the project evaluates the technical performance of co-located renewable–storage systems, analysing how such configurations improve grid stability, reduce curtailment, and optimise asset utilisation. It also conducts a comprehensive economic analysis to determine the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of energy storage integration. The findings provide critical insights for developers, policymakers, and utilities seeking to accelerate renewable deployment while ensuring climate resilience and system flexibility.
