Shri Rajat Gupta is a Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company, based in Mumbai. He leads McKinsey’s Energy & Materials sector and its client services to the Government and Government-owned institutions. Since joining McKinsey in 1992, he has lived on three continents, serving clients in over 13 countries including US, UK, South Africa, Indonesia, China and India. Rajat is passionate about sustainability, serving on the board of Childline India Foundation, India’s child emergency response (and protection) agency, and is leading McKinsey’s social initiative on skilling in India, titled Generation.
Prior to joining McKinsey, Rajat graduated from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta in 1992 with the institute gold medal for securing the first position. Rajat holds an engineering degree (computer science) from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani. He was also awarded the gold medal at BITS for securing the first position at the institute, and was the captain of the squash team at the university.
