India’s ambitious renewable energy goals will require innovative solar applications such as Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV). Yet, limited awareness, fragmented information, and a lack of accessible planning tools continue to hinder wider BIPV adoption.
This workshop introduced the online BIPV Design Tool being developed to support architects, engineers, façade professionals, developers, and other stakeholders in the early-stage planning and design of BIPV projects.
Participants learned about the Tool’s purpose, methodology, inputs, and outputs, including indicative BIPV configurations, system size, energy generation, project cost, payback period, and environmental impact. The workshop also included live demonstrations using representative building scenarios.
The session gave stakeholders an opportunity to explore the Tool from a practical perspective and share feedback to strengthen its functionality, usability, and relevance for BIPV projects in India.
