Stakeholder Workshop on Karnataka-DISHA

Effective policymaking in India depends on integrated, accessible data systems. Yet development-related datasets remain scattered across administrative sources and household surveys, making evidence-based decision-making difficult at the district level. Because districts are the primary units for implementing policy, the lack of a unified platform connecting key indicators limits targeted planning and monitoring.

CSTEP is building Karnataka-DISHA (District Insights and Socio-Economic Hub for Analytics)—a data analytics platform designed to support evidence-based policymaking. This platform brings together diverse datasets and analytical tools for research, policy analysis, and development planning. It offers district-level decadal datasets, forecasting capabilities, and index-building tools, enabling users to track and analyse development trends across Karnataka.

The second phase of Karnataka-DISHA will significantly expand its scope by integrating household-, individual-, and farm-level data with district-, state-, and regional-level indicators. Stakeholder workshops during this phase will play a key role in ensuring the platform meets real-world policy and implementation needs and in co-developing practical use cases across multiple sectors.
