As part of the ongoing series of Capacity-Building and Training Programmes on Prioritised Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices in Odisha, CSTEP, in collaboration with the Office of the Chief District Agriculture Officer (CDAO), Kendrapara, and with support from the Climate Resilience Cell (CRC) of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment (DA&FE), Government of Odisha, organised its fourth training programme for farmers in Kendrapara district on 24 April 2026.
The programme trained approximately 120 farmers on the top three prioritised CSA practices identified for the Kendrapara district. The event was presided over by the Additional Secretary and Deputy Director of Agriculture, DA&FE, Government of Odisha; CDAO, Kendrapara; and the Assistant Director of Agriculture, Kendrapara.
The programme focused on promoting improved varieties of flood-tolerant and pest- and disease-resistant crops to reduce yield losses, including an on-field demonstration. Technical expert-led sessions focused on encouraging the use of organic and bio-fertilisers as sustainable alternatives to chemical inputs and on implementing Integrated Farming System modules, such as paddy–fish farming, duck rearing, or salt-tolerant paddy (e.g. Pokkali rice with fish/shrimp). The initiative aimed to accelerate the adoption of climate-resilient agricultural practices among farmers in the district.
This was a closed-door, in-person event intended entirely for farmer trainees.
