As part of the ongoing series of Capacity-Building and Training Programmes, CSTEP, in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Angul, and with support from the Climate Resilience Cell (CRC) of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment (DA&FE), Government of Odisha, is organising its fifth training programme for farmers in Angul district on 27 April 2026.
Through expert-led technical sessions and hands-on demonstrations, the programme will promote micro-irrigation practices, such as drip, sprinkler, and rain-gun systems, to increase resilience to climate shocks. To boost farmers’ incomes, the programme will aim to encourage diversification into high-value and underutilised crops, such as fruits, vegetables, and spices, and to promote the utilisation of rice fallows after paddy harvest. The programme will conclude with an on-field demonstration on the use of rice fallow with short-duration rabi pulses and oilseeds to impart practical skills for immediate adoption on farms.
The capacity-building and training programme on Prioritised Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) Practices in Odisha will train approximately 120 farmers on the top three CSA practices identified for Angul district (Refer to the Concept Note for more details). The event will be presided over by the Additional Secretary and Deputy Director of Agriculture, DA&FE, Government of Odisha; the Chief District Agriculture Officer, Angul; and senior scientists from KVK, Angul.
This is a closed-door, in-person event intended entirely for farmer trainees.
