WCEF2026 Accelerator Session

Accelerating Circularity and Digital Innovation for the Built Environment

How can we decouple growth from resource use?

Drawing on India’s experience, this WCEF2026 Accelerator Session explores how low-carbon solutions backed by digital tools can turn data into actionable insights. It examines how these insights can shape smarter policy and business decisions for sustainable growth.

It explores how circularity approaches, life cycle assessments, and digital innovations can create the evidence needed to inform policy, guide investment, and accelerate the transition to a sustainable built environment. We aim to facilitate a dialogue between policymakers, researchers, industry, and practitioners under the following thematic areas:

1. Life Cycle Thinking and Systems Mapping

How can we build more while using fewer resources? This segment will explore how a whole-building life cycle approach and system mapping can identify emission and energy hotspots, resource flows, and key intervention points across the building value chain, from material extraction and design to construction, operation, reuse and end-of-life.

2. Digital Tools and Innovation

How can digital innovation make sustainability more measurable and actionable? The discussion will explore the role of tools such as GIS, digital twins, material databases, and digital material passports in connecting data across the building life cycle, improving transparency and enabling more informed decisions.

3. From Data to Decision-Making

How can better data translate into better action? This segment will examine how credible environmental data can inform policy, investment, design, sourcing, and procurement decisions, support credible sustainability claims, avoid greenwashing, and ensure transparency in meeting sustainability targets.

This is a hybrid event.
