Employing GIS in Climate Risk Assessment for Adaptation
CSTEP is organising a webinar to deepen your understanding of geographic information system (GIS) technology and its role in informed decision-making for adapting to climate change. The webinar will explore how GIS is changing climate risk analysis and providing information for formulating adaptation strategies. For more details, please refer to the concept note and agenda.
Climate Hour
The 29th session of the Conference of Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) marked a critical juncture in global climate negotiations. The decisions made at COP29 will be pivotal in shaping national and international trajectories toward achieving the 2030 and 2050 climate goals.
Senior Associate
The candidate will be involved in developing models to project India’s future energy and emissions landscape, assess resource constraints and macroeconomic impacts, and conduct financial analyses. Therefore, a multi-disciplinary background is essential.
Responsibilities
· Join the team in building models to better understand the future from the perspective of climate change mitigation and sustainability.
Carbon-to-chemicals: A techno-commercial assessment
Carbon capture and utilisation (CCU) is an innovative concept that involves converting carbon dioxide (CO₂) captured from point sources of emission or the air into value-added products. It has been gaining considerable attention lately for its role in realising a circular economy. In this context, our study aimed to examine the techno-economics of producing methanol and urea from the captured CO₂, while also evaluating the implications of producing these chemicals domestically, instead of importing them.
Senior Associate
We are seeking a highly motivated ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) expert to conduct comprehensive ecological analyses and design targeted green infrastructure plans in Bengaluru. The candidate will also assist the team in integrating nature-based solutions (NbS) into climate adaptation strategies, policies, and programmes.
Analyst
The candidate will contribute to the outreach activities of the Adaptation and Risk Analysis group by organising workshops and public meetings, engaging with stakeholders, and facilitating community feedback to strengthen ecosystem-based adaptation or EbA-focussed adaptation strategies.
Senior Analyst
The Senior Analyst will be a part of the Hydrogen and Industrial Decarbonisation team, which is involved in evaluating technologies and influencing policy landscape towards the proliferation of a hydrogen ecosystem in India, contributing to India’s clean energy goal.
Climate Finance & Carbon Market Expert
The climate finance and carbon market specialist would be primarily responsible for providing technical expertise and support in identifying, accessing, and mobilising climate finance resources, and exploring carbon market opportunities in the agriculture sector.
Dr V S Arunachalam Memorial Lecture
CSTEP is happy to introduce the Dr V S Arunachalam Memorial Lecture—a platform to inspire, educate, and foster collaboration on the most pressing issues facing science, technology, and policy today. Named after Dr V S Arunachalam, the founder of CSTEP and a visionary leader in science and technology, this series celebrates the legacy that has profoundly shaped India’s defence, engineering, and scientific communities.
Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) Expert
The CSA specialist will play a key role in project design and provide technical expertise and strategic advice on climate-smart adaptation strategies in the agricultural sector. She/he would also be involved in the implementation of CSA practices to enhance agricultural resilience.
