We are seeking a highly motivated intern currently enrolled in an MTech/MSc programme with a background in data science, remote sensing, geoinformatics, environmental science, urban studies, or related disciplines. The intern will support the Adaptation and Risk Analysis team in the preparation and analysis of land use and land cover (LULC) maps for the Bengaluru district using the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform. The work supports a larger initiative on Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) and climate-resilient urban planning in Bengaluru.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Process and classify satellite imagery using GEE
  • Develop interactive graphs and visualisations to illustrate LULC dynamics
  • Assist in the preparation and validation of LULC maps

 

Qualifications

 

Currently enrolled in a master’s degree programme in data science, remote sensing & geoinformatics, urban and regional planning, or a related discipline

 

Skill Set

 

  • Hands-on experience with GEE (JavaScript or Python API)
  • Prior experience with Quantum-GIS or any open-source GIS platform
  • Familiarity with Sentinel datasets (e.g. Sentinel-I and -II missions) and spectral indices
  • Knowledge of LULC classification, urban spatial analysis, and spatial statistics
  • Good communication and documentation skills
