For this post, we are seeking candidates with a background in atmospheric sciences, air pollution, etc., with proficiency in FORTRAN, shell scripting, and python on high-performance computing platforms based on Unix/Linux. The applicant should have experience of working with satellite datasets (e.g., MODIS, TROPOMI, etc.) and surface measurements such as CPCB CAAQMS/NAMP and sensor data. She/he should be able to perform data analysis and visualisation with a strong understanding of statistical methods.
The Analyst/Senior Analyst will play a crucial role in creating pipelines for data analysis and visualisation and learning state-of-the art AQ modelling set-ups for policy use.
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for data analysis and visualisation of ground and satellite-based measurements.
- Compare measurements with reduced complexity models and/or chemical transport model outputs.
- Help the modelling team in writing reports and journal articles.
- Apply numerical algorithms, statistical methods, and data analysis techniques to process atmospheric and meteorological data.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in atmospheric sciences, environmental sciences/engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- Fresh graduates can apply for the post of Analyst.
- For the post of Senior Analyst, a master’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.
Skill Set
- Proficiency in Python for data analysis and visualisation.
- Knowledge of numerical methods, statistical analysis, and data processing techniques.
- Ability to handle huge volume of datasets (NetCDF, HDF, GRIB, ASCII, geo-referenced data).
- Ability to work within a Linux/Unix environment.
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting key findings.
