The analyst will be involved in various short- and long-term modelling studies on energy transition to asses its impact on land-use and need for critical minerals, and its contribution in reaching net-zero emissions. This work will be in the Climate Change Mitigation domain within the Climate, Environment, and Sustainability sector.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Undertake data collection, literature reviews, and model development to simulate various aspects of India’s energy transition in a multi-disciplinary manner.
  • Help in developing long-term scenarios for India’s decarbonisation using the existing models at CSTEP.
  • Keep track of the latest developments in energy transition, critical minerals, and land-use policies and publications.
  • Engage with national and international experts to reinforce modelling capacity and enhance collaborative learning.
  • Perform outreach duties by conducting stakeholder consultations on modelling analyses.
  • Publish analytical results in the form of reports, policy briefs, journal articles, conference papers, and other forms of dissemination.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Graduate in Environmental Sciences, Sustainability Studies, Energy Management or related fields.
  • A background in critical minerals and land-use would be preferable.

 

 

Experience

 

  • 1-3 years of experience working in the area of energy, modelling, and sustainability.

 

 

Skill Set

 

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Good critical-thinking skills, especially the systematic interpretation of data for contributing to innovative research methodology.
  • Ability to efficiently manage work in multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and within the larger framework of a team.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Familiarity with India’s energy transition journey.
  • Knowledge of system dynamics modelling.
