Communication Officer – Visual Design

 

The Communication Officer (Visual Design) will be a part of the Communication and Policy Engagement team and will be responsible for creating visual communication outputs. The applicant must have a strong understanding of digital and print design and knowledge of various digital channels (including social media), the content formats available within the channels, and how the formats and channels can be leveraged while designing outputs in a creative manner.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

• Understand the requirement of research teams (internal) and discuss ideas/designs.
• Understand and interpret briefs and develop the design approach.
• Interpret scientific data and present it through infographics.
• Design interesting layouts for research reports, brochures, presentations, web pages, posters, etc.
• Visualise data and create infographics for publications such as reports and policy briefs.
• Create digital posts, banners, and infographics for social media promotions.
• Design creatives such as banners, standees, and brochures for events.
• Research and stay up to date on design trends.
• Maintain consistency in design outputs, in alignment with the organisation’s branding guidelines.

 

 

Qualifications

 

• Bachelor’s degree in visual communication, graphic design, or a related field.

 

 

Experience

 

• 2–3 years of relevant experience in visual communication.

 

 

Skill Set

 

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) and Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of online tools such as Figma, Canva, Mailchimp, and Miro. 
• Sketching skills in various mediums (pencil, water colour, dry pastels, colour pencils, etc.).
• An eye for detail with regard to layout, colour, fonts, and printing techniques.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with efficiency.
• Ability to perform under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
