The candidate will contribute to the outreach activities of the Adaptation and Risk Analysis group by organising workshops and public meetings, engaging with stakeholders, and facilitating community feedback to strengthen ecosystem-based adaptation or EbA-focussed adaptation strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Help in organising workshops, public meetings, and stakeholder discussions for outreach and community engagement, ensuring clear communication of EbA objectives. 
  • Conduct field visits to collect community feedback on project activities and report concerns. 
  • Create outreach materials, reports, and presentations in English and Kannada to improve understanding of project initiatives. 
  • Assist the team with assessments and design plans, aligned with EbA priorities. 
  • Assist with documentation, translation, data entry, and general administrative tasks to ensure smooth project operations. 
  • Support with various project tasks, including meeting notes, fieldwork logistics, and database management.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, urban planning, social sciences, or related field, with strong communication skills in Kannada and English. A Master’s Degree would be a plus.

 

Experience

  • 1-2 years experience in the area. Evidenced interest/internships working on similar projects –diverse stakeholder engagement, community outreach, public engagement, preferably in the environmental or urban development sector.

 

Skill Set

  • Knowledge of urban ecology, landscape planning, and ecosystem service evaluation in the context of nature-based solutions.
  • Familiarity with national and international ecological and biodiversity frameworks such as those developed by the IUCN, CBD, and other relevant bodies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with diverse community groups and stakeholders, with a focus on clear and culturally sensitive communication. Knowledge of Kannada is a must.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Tableau/Power BI, social media outreach tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Canva; stakeholder engagement tools like Miro, Mentimeter, Jamboard etc.
