The Senior Associate for climate-smart agriculture (CSA) will play a critical role in developing strategies that promote climate-resilient agricultural practices. This position requires a good understanding of the conceptual and technical aspects of CSA trends, practices, and technologies, and the ability to draw policy implications. The candidate should be able to coordinate and communicate effectively with internal and external teams and work in an organised manner to ensure that project deliverables and outcomes are achieved.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive research on CSA practices, technologies, policies, and trends at both local and global levels.
  • Identify methods to integrate CSA principles into existing agricultural programmes, initiatives, and policies.
  • Provide technical guidance and support the team in identifying gaps, opportunities, and challenges in the adoption of CSA.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Prepare high-quality reports, presentations, and policy briefs on CSA.

 

Qualifications

 

Master's degree in Agricultural Science or Agricultural Engineering

 

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 to 9 years of experience in climate change, sustainable agriculture, or related fields, with a focus on CSA.
  • Strong knowledge of climate change science and its impact on agriculture, coupled with an understanding of CSA principles, practices, and technologies.
  • Willingness to travel domestically, as required.

 

Skill Set

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software. 
  • Excellent research and analytical skills, with a proven track record of high-quality reports and publications.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and with the team.
  • Working knowledge of related tools such as DSSAT and GIS is highly desirable.
