The Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) Adaptation Consultant will play a key role in project design and provide technical expertise and strategic advice to stakeholders on climate smart adaptation strategies in the agricultural sector. The work would entail conducting vulnerability assessments, framing adaptation strategies, and providing support for implementing CSA practices to enhance agricultural resilience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance and advice on CSA practices, technologies, and innovations that enhance agricultural resilience to climate change impacts, such as improved water management, soil conservation, agroforestry systems, and crop diversification.
  • Collaborate with relevant organisations, research institutions, and government agencies to foster partnerships, exchange knowledge, and leverage resources for CSA adaptation initiatives.
  • Develop and implement adaptation plans, considering climate projection scenarios and socioeconomic factors.
  • Conduct capacity building training programmes and workshops to enhance the capacity of farmers, SHGs, and other stakeholders in implementing CSA practices and adapting to climate change.
  • Contribute to the dissemination of best practices, lessons learned, and research findings related to CSA adaptation through reports, publications, and participation in meetings and workshops.

 

Qualifications

 

Master's degree in agriculture, environmental science, climate change, or a related field.

 

 

Experience

 

At least 8 to 10 years of work experience in the area of climate change adaptation, particularly in the agricultural sector.

 

 

Skill Set

  • Strong knowledge of climate change impacts on agriculture, CSA concepts, and adaptation strategies.
  • Familiarity with agricultural practices, technologies, and innovations that promote climate resilience.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess climate vulnerabilities and adaptation measures.
  • Experience in designing and implementing capacity-building programmes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, monitoring, and evaluation to assess project impacts.
  • Understanding of policy processes and ability to provide inputs for the development of agricultural policies and strategies.
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  •  Proficiency in English and Hindi, and good command over Odia is desirable.
