Dr Asad Sahir is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar. He earned his PhD from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, USA and his previous experiences include working with the US Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Golden, CO, and with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited's Corporate R&D Centre in Greater Noida. He has authored numerous research articles and contributed to several technical reports.
Dr Sahir’s research interests include renewable and conventional sources of energy, process systems engineering (modelling, optimisation, and control), carbon capture utilisation and storage, and energy efficiency in the built environment.
Dr Sahir is the recipient of the 2022 We Local Award (Engaged Advocate Award) by Society of Women Engineers, for promoting women in STEM, and has received an honourable mention as the Best Faculty Advisor for the 2022 Solar Decathlon India. He also served as the first Head - Professional Development, for the Career Development and Corporate Relations Centre (now known as Career Development and Placement Cell) at IIT Ropar.
At CSTEP, he is a member of the Technical Advisory Board.
