Anthropogenic emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), weighted by global warming potential, constitute by far the largest part of the emissions of Greenhouse Gases (GHG). Of these CO2 emissions, those that are produced from fuel combustion make up the great majority. The report assesses Karnataka’s emissions of GHG at the state level. The methodology used is similar to that in the “GHG Emissions 2007” report from Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF). Mitigation options in the power sector are also analysed in great detail.
