Professor Palle Rama Rao is a well-known scientist who has contributed vastly in the field of Physical and Mechanical Metallurgy. He served as the Director of Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory, Hyderabad, and rose to the position of Secretary, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. In addition to these, he held other top positions like Chairman, Atomic Energy Regulatory Board, and Vice Chancellor, University of Hyderabad. He has also been appointed Member, Atomic Energy Commission. He is a recipient of several prestigious awards, some of which include the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize, the Platinum Medal of the Indian Institute of Metals, the Tata Gold Medal (1992), the Homi J. Bhabha Award for Applied Sciences and the Materials Science Prize of the Indian National Science Academy. He was also conferred the Padma Vibhushan in 2011. He was also awarded the “Millennium Plaque of Honour” and the Jawaharlal Birth Centenary Award by the Indian Science Congress Association.
Professor MGK Menon was an eminent physicist and policymaker. He contributed to the development of science and technology in India for over the past five decades. A notable contribution was the nurturing of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai. In addition, Prof. Menon served as Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Director General, CSIR, and Scientific Advisor to RM. He was a Member of Parliament – Rajya Sabha and the Minister of State for Science & Technology. He was a recipient of several national and international awards which include the prestigious Padma Vibhushan.
Dr. Raj Reddy is one of the early pioneers of Artificial Intelligence. He has served on the faculty of Stanford and Carnegie Mellon University for over 40 years. He is the Moza Bint Nasser University Professor of Computer Science and Robotics in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. His research interests include the study of human–computer interactions and artificial intelligence, Universal Digital Libraries, role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in developing economies, etc. He is a member of the US National Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. For his contributions, Dr. Reddy was recognised by being awarded several honours. To name a few, he received the Legion of Honour from France, the Padma Bhushan, the ACM Turing Award, the Honda Prize and the Vannevar Bush Award. He was also instrumental in creating the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies in India.
Shri Ashok Vasudevan is the Co-founder and CEO of Preferred Brands International and the Chairman of Tasty Bites Eatables Ltd. He also co-founded the ASG-Omni, a US and India-based strategy consulting firm. He is also associated with several non-profit organisations. He was a recipient of Pepsi's prestigious MVP award in 1991. Shri Vasudevan and his wife Smt. Meera Vasudevan were jointly presented the “2014 Indian American Achiever Award” by GOPIO CT (Global Organization of People of Indian Origin). He has co-authored part of a book titled “Drivers of Global Business Success–Lessons from Emerging Markets” (Macmillan, 2004).
